about

This is a song I wrote on an airplane. I love taking my notebook on the plane and letting my mind wander, and the pen flow. Over the years, traveling back to Chicago to see my mom and dad and brothers and sisters, I'd spent a lot of time doing that, and loved people watching.
This trip, I was on my way back to Chicago, with love and sadness in my heart. I was heading back to see my mom, who was in 87, with Alzheimer's at the time. It would potentially one of the last times I saw her, and I kinda knew that. She was a piano teacher, and taught me everything I knew about music, and loved it when we sang with her.
I played this for her one afternoon on that trip, and she said "nice!"
Truly , this song is about living each day as if it were your last. Taking chances and loving tremendously, as if it were the last day on the earth

lyrics

Spent the last 20 years on a jet plane
Rolling to and fro and round about this earth
Lookin down on the ground where all the fears lie
Wonderin’ at this life and all that it is worth

From Chicago to LA and up to Frisco
All the Seasons, and the reasons to be blue
And again I’m travelin on, for the last time I don’t know
To see my mother and the places I once knew

Chorus
I’m going Home, home, again
I’m goin bank now, to the place where I began
I’m lookin in, and out and round and then within
To see my kin, my home again

Through the years and all the airports, and them barstools
Met every rockstars, banker, artists and the like
I had dreams to fill the room, and I sang a million tunes
But in the end I always reminisce of you

Now it’s the last day on the earth, and we both know it
This old town can only spin around so fast
So take the next train and the time to say you love them
For in heaven we will know what’s meant to last
