about

This song was written on an airplane, on one of the many trips back to Chicago from California, over the years. I spent some quality time in the aiprorts, and always appreciated the time to people watch, remember my trip on the way home, and reflect on what it all means.
These words were on, what would be, one of the last trips back to see ny mother before she left the earth. On some level I knew that, and even played it for her when I visited that fall.
The song is about living Each day as if it were your last. Tell them you love them. Make the trip. Make it yours. Make it about love.

lyrics

Spent the last 20 years on a jet plane
Rolling to and fro and round about this earth (
Lookin down on the ground where all m’fears lie
Wonderin’ at this life and all that we are worth

From Chicago to LA and down to Frisco
All the Seasons and the Reasons to be Blue)
And again I’m on the road for the last time I don’t know
To see my mother and the place that I once knew

I’m goin’ home, home again
I’m looking back now to the places that Ive been
I’m lookin’ backward, sometimes down’ and then within
I’ll see my kin, my home, within again

Through the years and all the airports and on barstools
I met rockstars artists bankers and the like
I had dreams to fill the room, and I wrote a million tunes
But in the end I always reminisce of you

It’s the last day on the earth and we both know it
This old world will only spin around so fast
So take the next chance and tell someone you love them
And every stolen moment could’ve been our last
